Book Review - "Under the Hawthorn Tree" by Marita Conlon-McKenna

"Under the Hawthorn Tree" by Marita Conlon McKenna is my favourite book because it's about the "Great Famine" in Ireland. It's set in the 1840s. It's about a girl called Eily. She has a younger brother called Michael and two younger sisters called Peggy and Bridget. Bridget is only a baby and she is very sick. Their father went away to work and their mother got worried, so she left Eily in charge of the house. At this point, Baby Bridget has sadly passed away and they bury her under the hawthorn tree.

I would rate this book 9.5 out of 10.
