The Art of Reading in Carndonagh Community School Library

In 2006, it was decided that our school library needed a bit of colour. With the help of some of our most artistic pupils, we set to work. The first order of business was to decide what form the art would take. It wasn't long before one pupil suggested that novel covers would make excellent subjects for our blank canvas. Not a bad idea!...It is a library after all. So the next day was spent questioning pupils on their absolute favourite book and author. The answers now sit proudly above the library's main entrance.

Books and authors come and go as time and taste moves on, but the very best will always find a place in the hearts of young people. It's often said that a picture paints a thousand words. But so too can the writen word of these authors paint wonderful pictures in the imagination of the reader. We pay tribute to some of their art with some art of our own...
