What is the book about? Seventeen year old Griet goes to work at the house of the painter, Vermeer, as a maid. She falls in love with him, and at his request begins to assist him with his work. This must be kept a secret from the family. Things change when a particularly lecherous patron of Vermeer's asks him to paint Griet.
Good points: It was very detailed. The reader can feel comfortable in the setting of 17th century Holland.
