ENNIS BOOK CLUB FESTIVAL

Readers' FestivalThe Ennis Book Club Festival is a wonderful social and literary gathering bringing together book club members and readers from all over Ireland and beyond. Supported by Clare County Library, the festival includes author readings, discussions, workshops and walking tours through the narrow streets and lanes of Ennis. We offer sessions on how to organise a book club and advice on reading lists, chocolate tastings, events as Gaeilge and an opportunity to compare notes and meet with other Book Club members. There are four of us on the organising committee, three volunteers and one library staff member. We are ably assisted by a small army of festival helpers without whom the event would not happen. The Ennis Book Club Festival is supported by Clare County Library. Our wish is to create a festival that we ourselves would like to go to, one where we can combine our passion for reading with a great weekend away. We love meeting with other book club members and book lovers and comparing notes. We want to meet the writers to hear about their work and to hear about what they like to read. We want to get ideas on what should be included on our reading lists and to get tips on approaching new material. Most of all we want to enjoy ourselves doing what we love best - talking about reading.Organising Committee Frances O'Gorman has worked in the Library service for over 20 years and has been a book club member since 2001. Ciana Campbell was a broadcaster with RTE for 18 years. She now works as a media consultant and is a book club member. Mary Kenneally is an accounts administrator and a book club member since 2001. Paula Sheils has worked in the financial services and aviation sectors as a personal assistant. She is currently a part time counsellor and full time Mum and is a member of a book club.
